Have you ever had a dream that you swore was real? I once had a dream that i had put fifty cents into my pants pocket so i could get a soda the next day. The next day, I was surprised that I had no change in my pocket. Edgar Allen Poe questioned that life could be "a dream within a dream"? Maybe he was right.
I think about this a lot. What if we are going through life in comatose? Not realizing anything that is going on to the depth as it occurs, but instead, we are numb to everything. Something important happens and we don't even recognize it for what it is.
How do we wake from this dream state? How do we stop being numb to life? Do you ever get tired of routine? I like taking backroads and driving the longer way home, just so there is something different. Do you ever challenge yourself like that? Are you waiting for the moment in your life where you wake up and find you have found a different world to live in?

Moment of change
What if our life was dictated by a single moment? Like the climax of a movie, where someone rushes for that exact time where there is 3 seconds left on the bomb. Have you ever noticed there’s never 18 hours left on the bomb?) But that’s not what I am talking about.
Did you ever see Fight Club? Brad Pitt grabs a convenience store clerk and puts a gun up to his head and asks him “What have you always wanted to do with your life?” the clerk stammers and Pitt screams again, “NO! WHAT HAVE YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO BE?!” “…uh… a veterinarian” This is that moment. Where the man thinks he is about to die and Pitt tells him to start that path - to get enrolled in class, to do whatever it takes to be come a veterinarian.
So what do you want to be? What do you want to do? Life isn’t just a random moment where a bomb is supposed to go off and you alone can save the day. It’s a very narcissistic view. But what if life was the moment you could do something to change the world. What if what you always wanted to do or become was just a moment away and it was up to you to do it?
What would you do?
